If the product suits the user, a clear change is often noticeable within just one or two days.

Frequency is important with local use

Use Smrekovit oral spray several times a day directly on the affected area. The practical rule is simple: use it whenever you remember. For problems such as mouth ulcers or sore throat, you can therefore use it several times throughout the day.

The oral spray is intended for the mouth and throat, not the nose. For problems involving the nose and sinuses, we use a different method of application, described in a separate section.

Early action is important for some problems

For herpes, we recommend starting use at the first tingling, itching or burning sensation. Based on our experience, results for ear problems are also significantly better if you start using Smrekovit at the first sensation of water, pressure or initial pain.

Chronic throat irritation is not always only a throat problem

If the throat remains irritated for a longer period or the problems are accompanied by a chronic cough, it also makes sense to consider reflux, especially if stomach problems are present at the same time. In this case, also read the instructions for reflux.

If the condition worsens, a high fever develops or the expected improvement does not occur, we recommend a medical examination. If streptococcal tonsillitis has been confirmed in a child, do not delay medical treatment.

Mouth ulcers

For mouth ulcers, we recommend Smrekovit oral spray, applied directly to the ulcer several times a day. In practice, you can use it whenever you remember.

The first application may sting strongly

On an open and painful mouth ulcer, the first applications of the spray may sting considerably or even cause strong pain for a short time. This is usual with this type of use and is not in itself a reason to stop.

Based on our practical experience, with a good response the pain often decreases considerably within one to two days. At the same time, spraying itself also becomes much less unpleasant.

How long should it be used?

Use the spray regularly until the mouth ulcer no longer causes problems. If there is no change at all after about two days or the condition worsens, it makes sense to reassess the cause of the problem.

Read more about how mouth ulcers develop, how to recognise them and what can make them worse in the article Mouth ulcers: how to recognise them and what helps.

Herpes on the lip and in the mouth

For external herpes on the lip or skin, we recommend Smrekovit 365 Prima, while for herpes in the mouth you can use Smrekovit oral spray.

Start at the first signs

Based on our practical experience, the most important thing with herpes is to act as early as possible. The best results are achieved when Smrekovit 365 Prima is applied at the first tingling, itching, tightness or burning sensation – before blisters develop.

Apply the product directly to the affected area several times a day. If you start early enough, based on our experience, the herpes often develops in a much milder form or its course is noticeably shortened.

A practical method for a longer-lasting application

You can apply a slightly thicker layer of Smrekovit 365 Prima to the herpes area and then briefly dry it with a hair dryer. This creates a more durable layer on the surface that stays in place longer.

For herpes in the mouth, use Smrekovit oral spray directly on the affected area several times a day.

Read more about the signs, course and early action in the article Cold sores: how to recognise them and what helps.

Sore throat

For a sore throat, we recommend Smrekovit oral spray. Direct the spray straight towards the painful or irritated part of the throat and use it several times a day.

The practical rule is simple: use it whenever you remember. For more pronounced problems, this may mean several applications throughout the day.

When can you expect a change?

Based on our practical experience, sore throat is one of the uses where the oral spray tends to give particularly good results. If the user responds well, improvement is often noticeable within just one day, and generally within one to two days.

If the throat remains irritated for a longer time

Read more about the causes, signs and possible measures in the article Sore throat: causes, symptoms and what helps.

With chronic throat irritation, the cause is not always in the throat itself. If the problems recur or persist for a longer time, especially together with chronic cough or stomach problems, it also makes sense to consider reflux. Read the practical instructions for reflux.

Tonsillitis and children

The oral spray can also be used for a sore throat associated with infections, but in the case of confirmed streptococcal tonsillitis in a child, do not delay medical treatment.

If the pain worsens, a high fever develops, swallowing becomes difficult or the condition does not improve within the expected time, we recommend a medical examination.

Hoarseness

For hoarseness, we recommend Smrekovit oral spray, used several times a day directly in the throat.

A practical combination for a more heavily used voice

Based on our practical experience, a combination of Smrekovit oral spray and Gelorevoice lozenges works very well. Use the oral spray several times a day, and Gelorevoice especially when you want to provide additional protection and moisture to the throat mucosa.

This combination can be particularly practical with increased speaking or singing strain, dry air, or when the throat is irritated in addition to hoarseness.

If hoarseness lasts for a longer time

If the hoarseness is associated with an acutely irritated or sore throat, also follow the instructions for sore throat.

With long-lasting or recurrent hoarseness, it also makes sense to consider other possible causes. If chronic throat irritation, cough or stomach problems are present at the same time, also read the instructions for reflux.

If hoarseness persists for a longer time without a clear cause or worsens significantly, we recommend a medical examination.

Inflamed gums, bleeding gums and periodontal disease

For inflamed or bleeding gums and periodontal disease, we recommend Smrekovit oral spray. Apply the spray directly to the affected part of the gums several times a day.

For inflamed gums, based on our practical experience, the first changes are often noticeable within just one to two days. Users most commonly notice less sensitivity, less bleeding and an overall calming of the gums.

It is also important to eliminate the cause of irritation

Inflamed gums can be associated with tartar, trapped food, periodontal pockets, irregular interdental spaces or irritation caused by dentures. Smrekovit can be used locally, but with recurrent problems it also makes sense to identify and eliminate their cause.

Periodontal disease

For periodontal disease, apply the spray directly to the gums and use it regularly several times a day. Special rinses or other additional products are not necessary for the use of Smrekovit itself.

Users often report an improvement in the condition of their gums and reduced bleeding. Some users have also reported less tooth mobility, but these are practical observations by users and not systematically verified results.

Read more about the causes, signs and measures for gum problems in the article Inflamed gums: causes, symptoms and what helps.

If the gums are markedly swollen or painful, pus appears, the teeth are loose or the problems persist, we recommend a dental examination.

Sinuses

For sinus problems, based on our practical experience, Smrekovit Klasik works best. We use it externally over the sinus area, most practically with cotton pads.

How to apply the pads?

Take two round cotton pads and cut each one in half to make four semicircular “half-moons”.

Apply Smrekovit Klasik to each half.

Place two beside or above the nose and two under the eyes beside the nose, over the sinus area.

Leave the pads in place for as long as possible. The most practical option is to use them overnight.

Repeat the procedure for several consecutive days and monitor the change in symptoms. Based on our experience, sinus problems usually require a few more days of regular use than mouth ulcers or sore throat.

If the nose is blocked and there is also discharge

For sinus problems associated with a cold, we also recommend thorough rinsing of the nose with saline solution. The purpose of rinsing is not only to moisturise the mucosa, but above all to mechanically remove mucus from the nasal cavity. A more detailed method is described in the instructions for a cold.

Based on user experience, Smrekovit Klasik can also be combined well with sinus preparations such as Sinupret.

If a high fever develops, there is pronounced pain, swelling around the eye, or the problems worsen or do not improve for a longer time, we recommend a medical examination.

Cold and blocked nose

For a common cold, the options for using Smrekovit are limited. Based on traditional use, you can apply it to the outside of the nose, but in our practical experience a more important measure is thorough rinsing of the nose with saline solution.

Rinse the nose, do not just moisturise it

The purpose of rinsing is not only to moisturise the nasal mucosa. By using a sufficiently large amount of fluid, the main aim is to mechanically remove mucus from the nasal cavity. Based on our experience, thorough rinsing is considerably more effective than a few sprays of saline solution.

For rinsing, you can use a larger syringe without a needle, a special nasal rinsing bottle, a neti pot or another device that allows a larger amount of fluid to flow through the nose.

How to prepare saline solution?

You can use ready-made saline solution or prepare it yourself:

1 litre of boiled and cooled water,

9 g of salt – approximately one level teaspoon.

This gives you an approximately 0.9% saline solution. Based on our practical experience, it is not a problem if the solution is slightly saltier; what is more important is that the rinsing is thorough enough.

How to rinse the nose?

Tilt your head forward and turn it slightly to one side.

Keep your mouth open.

Let the solution flow through one nostril.

If the position is correct, the fluid will flow through the nasal cavity and out through the other nostril.

If most of the fluid runs into the throat, adjust the position of your head slightly. Rinsing should feel comfortable and should not involve excessive pressure.

Why do we recommend rinsing early?

Based on our practical experience, timely and thorough removal of mucus can reduce the likelihood of the problems spreading to the sinuses, throat or lower respiratory tract.

If pressure or pain develops in the sinus area, follow the instructions for sinus problems. If the cold is accompanied by a pronounced sore throat, also read the article Sore throat: causes, symptoms and what helps.

If the cold is accompanied by high fever, severe pain, difficulty breathing, or the condition worsens instead of improving, we recommend a medical examination.

Bronchitis and cough from the lower respiratory tract

For bronchitis and cough originating from the lower respiratory tract, we recommend Smrekovit 365 Prima.

How to use?

Apply the cream over the chest several times a day. For more pronounced problems, you can also apply it additionally to the back between the shoulder blades.

Based on our practical experience, users often report that the cough settles quickly after application, in some cases within just a few minutes, while at the same time coughing up mucus becomes easier and mucus clearance more effective.

If the cough lasts for a longer time

A long-lasting cough is not necessarily related to bronchitis. If it recurs without a clear infection, especially together with throat irritation or stomach problems, it also makes sense to consider reflux. Read the instructions for reflux.

If the cough is accompanied by a markedly sore or irritated throat, also see the instructions for sore throat or the article Sore throat: causes, symptoms and what helps.

Pneumonia

For pneumonia, we consider Smrekovit only as support alongside the primary treatment. Based on our experience, 365 Prima is most commonly applied between the shoulder blades or over the chest, including alongside treatment prescribed by a doctor.

If there is a high fever, difficulty breathing, chest pain, pronounced weakness or worsening of the condition, we recommend a medical examination.

Ear problems

For ear problems, we recommend Smrekovit Klasik. Based on our practical experience, acting as early as possible is particularly important with this type of use.

Start at the first sensation of water or pressure in the ear or at the onset of pain. If use only begins once the inflammation is fully developed, the results are less predictable based on our experience.

How to use?

Using a clean finger, apply Smrekovit Klasik to the entrance of the ear canal. Use approximately the amount of a large bean – enough to fill the entrance of the ear canal well.

Immediately after application, a sensation of a blocked ear usually occurs. This is expected. At body temperature, the ointment gradually softens, so the blocked sensation generally decreases gradually.

If the pain progresses

If the pain continues to worsen despite starting use, you can also apply Smrekovit Klasik to a cotton pad and place it on the outside of the ear.

Based on our experience, stronger throbbing pain may sometimes occur and last for approximately one to two hours, after which the condition often begins to settle.

After improvement, we recommend that you continue using it for a few more days.

When should you see a doctor?

If the condition worsens, the pain is severe, a high fever develops or the problems do not begin to subside, we recommend a medical examination.

If you know that you have a perforated eardrum, have ear tubes, or fluid or blood is coming from the ear, do not apply anything into the ear canal without first consulting a doctor.

Didn't find the right problem?
 Search all practical instructions →

About these instructions

These instructions are based primarily on many years of practical experience using Smrekovit products, user feedback and knowledge gained through the development and use of the products.

Where we describe specific methods of use, product selection, the expected course or other practical details, these are based primarily on our practical experience.
